All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.
1 Corinthians 12:27
Below this article is a list of our small groups. What is a small group? It is a group of church attenders that have chosen to meet together for further Bible studies, Christian character studies and to be accountable to one another as we seek to be continually transforming, becoming more like Christ as we do life together here in our communities.
We thought it would be fun to introduce you to members of our church body through Who Am I articles. Try to guess who it is before scrolling down to the end of this article where you will find the name of this month's Who Am I.
Who Am I?
I was born in Los Angeles and grew up in North Hollywood. As a child The Wonderful World of Disney was my favorite show. Dolls were my favorite toy and there was one in particular that my mom made for me, her name was Holly. I grew up with Irish Setters. The vacation I remember most was a trip to Ireland. We stayed in a castle. Every day we went down to the beach where an old man told us stories. He whittled a piece of wood that at the end was an object from the story. I was given a unicorn, flowers, elf, and a castle.I liked school and my favorite subjects were math and history. My favorite books were The Chrystal Cave. I played baseball, but I loved swimming and ice skating. I loved watching Ice Dancing with my mom.
My dad taught me to drive. We started with a stick shift until I ran into my mom’s car and then I learned and took my test in a huge station wagon. I passed with a 99%. My first date was a party at the beach. I met my former husband at another party at the beach. We married in 1970 and I have two kids. I always went to church growing up. After getting married, it was not as consistent; when my kids were small I tried to attend most Sunday’s.
I first came to this church in 2006. I kept coming back because of the people and the messages given during services. Also the small groups have kept me coming back. I have always known Christ and accepted Him in about 1958 and He became very important with my Grandmother’s help. My favorite bible verse is Psalm 23, The Lord is My Shepherd. This verse shows God’s love for us. As our Shepherd He is our guide and protector.
A lot of my vacations occurred up in the Redwoods. I love the peace and quiet found when walking under the trees. I am essentially a quiet person, somewhat shy but friendly and helpful. I am happiest being involved with group activities but love the one on one with a good friend.
For a number of years, we frequently went as a group on Bud’s Boat to Catalina. It got to be a tradition for us to become the leader in a parade of dinghies. We would motor in and around all the boats encouraging one and all to join us, frequently getting anywhere from 6-20 boats all tied together. The ending always included ¾ of the boats sinking.
I would not like to be President of the United States. I think you would have to be crazy. If I won the lottery, I would donate to the church and help my family and friends.
My words of wisdom would be to put your faith in God. Trust in him and believe in Him. Your fellow human beings may let you down, but He never will.
