Director of Worship Arts

The mission of the Director of Worship Arts is to fulfill and enhance the worship and praise experience by leading the church's music programs in providing appropriate music for worship, special programs and events.
The Director of Worship Arts is:
· A full-time, salary-exempt position.
· Eligible for medical and dental coverage.
· Eligible for two weeks paid vacation per year.
· Eligible for one week of study leave per year
· Accountable to the Senior Pastor and the Worship Committee.
Responsibilities:
1. To meet with the Pastor and the Worship Committee regarding the theme and flow of each service of worship, special programs and events.
2. To prepare and present a list of songs and special music to the Pastor and Creative Team, so that they correlate with the Pastor's sermon topics and worship service themes and series.
3 To select the appropriate music that will match the cultural diversity of the congregation, will communicate God's truth in a relevant and compelling way, and work with all other performing arts elements (e.g. Drama, Video, etc.).
4. To direct rehearsals and oversee the performances of the various instrumentalists, musical groups and soloists.
5. To train participants in choral techniques, musical abilities, appreciation of music, worship leading skills, and participation in worship.
6. To organize and recruit instrumentalists, accompanists and members for the musical groups as needed for all church services and events, ensuring each service and event are appropriately supported.
7. To organize and maintain a music library for the church (including finding new songs and arranging old songs).
8. To provide a substitute to fill in as Worship Arts Director as required.
9. To attend the Creative Team and Worship Committee meetings and others as directed.
10. To prepare music for any church wedding or funeral.
11. To fulfill all necessary clerical duties relevant to this position.
12. To supervise and train soundboard operators, video technicians, and to arrange for their support at all church services and other functions when needed.
13. To provide musical experience to Youth & Children.
14. Create monthly schedule for vocalists and sound techs.
15. Manage and purchase new equipment (where necessary).
16. Video production (creation, editing etc.).
17. Management of commercials and video commercials for Sundays.
18. Management of media script for all services and events
19. Media for website (sermon podcast, bible studies etc.).
20. Lead HCC Choir; prepare choir for planned concerts and performances.
21. Provide leadership for drama ministry.
22. Manage and schedule any outside musical groups (ex. Young Continentals).
23. Manage volunteers, and make sure they know they are appreciated.

Qualifications:
1. Trained in music and worship; a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in music is preferred.
2. Accomplished on the piano or keyboard; multiple talents are desired.
3. Minimum of 1 to 2 years prior experience: recruiting, auditioning, assimilating, training and leading a volunteer worship team.
4. Good organizer and people person, able to recruit and encourage members of the congregation to volunteer their musical talents and to participate in the musical programs.
5. Computer skills.
6. Ability to arrange music is preferred.
