How does someone connect to God?
Someone must hear about Jesus and hear Jesus’ call to follow Him.
How can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? (Romans 10:14b)
Having heard, he must make a decision to repent (to turn from sin) and believe in Jesus as his Savior & Lord.
“The time has come,” [Jesus] said. “The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!” (Mark 1:15)
Having repented and believed in Jesus, the new believer is ready to be baptized.
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.” (Acts 2:38a)
As a way of growing in his/her faith, the new believer can learn and do spiritual disciplines such as Bible study, prayer, worship, communion, and fasting. These are not laws but training tools that will help the believer grow.
…how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 3:15)
Every believer should learn about the Holy Spirit and seek to be empowered by Him for ministry gifts and to share about Jesus.
“And you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
