1. Family Ministry is for all
Our events and worship opportunities need to be welcoming to all. Any family, no matter their structure –traditional/non-traditional- should feel God’s love and care through us.
2. Every individual will feel welcomed as part of God’s family
No matter what their family structure, everyone that walks through our doors will feel like they can belong, are safe enough to explore faith and begin to deepen their walk with God through a decision to believe in Jesus Christ.
3. As a church, we develop family relationships among each other
We all know and use our God-given gifts, strengths and talents to help each other.
“Family can be defined as “a set of relationships that endures over time despite life’s separations”-- A family is those who meet our needs for belonging and attachment, who meet those needs in others and who share life purposes, help and resources. “(Garland 1999)
4. Every individual is equipped to engage in ministry in their community and world
Through sermons, classes, ministries, programs and events each individual will learn how God created them to be uniquely gifted and will discover areas in which to serve their church family at home, at church, at work and in the world at large.
5. Every program and event operates with a family-ministry mindset
The goal of every program and event is to deepen family-type relationships among family members, among friends, among our church body and global community. When possible, programs and events need to incorporate intergenerational teaching tools to help families learn together.
6. Our church activities will increase the Christ-likeness of family relationships
Believers will develop a maturity of faith through supportive family structures and resources that reflect God’s direction to love one another.
7. Everyone will be cared for through supportive family structures and resources as a part of God’s larger family
As believers and followers of Jesus Christ, we are to care for one another because we are members of God’s family. As God leads, programs and events will be developed to meet the needs of the church body through individual gifts, strengths, talents and passions.
