STATEMENT OF FAITH

HORIZON COMMUNITY CHURCH

THE TRIUNE GOD:

God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

THE VIRGIN BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST:

Born of the virgin Mary through the power of the Holy Spirit.

THE SUBSTITUTIONARY DEATH OF JESUS CHRIST ON THE CROSS:

Out of God’s love, grace and compassion He sent His only Son to suffer the punishment of death on behalf of our own sins.  He paid the price of our sin for us.

THE BODILY RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST FROM THE DEAD:

In accordance with the scriptures, Jesus rose from the dead and ascended unto the right hand of the Father.

THE INDWELLING PRESENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT:

Jesus left us the Holy Spirit to dwell in our hearts in order that we may experience regeneration, in order to victoriously win over sin, and to have communion with God.

THE ETERNAL SALVATION OF THE BELIEVER:

Only through faith in Jesus can a person be saved, and once the person is saved they are assured of eternal life with God.

THE ETERNAL SEPARATION AND DEATH OF THE UNBELIEVER:

Because salvation is possible only through faith in Jesus Christ, those who do not believe are eternally lost and separated from God.

THE DIVINE INSPIRATION OF THE BIBLE:

The Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is the unique and divinely inspired word of God, infallible and the absolute authority on matters of life and faith.

THE CHURCH UNIVERSAL:

The church is the believers who gather to worship, study, and fellowship together.  Though there are different denominations and types, all share in the common faith of the Lord Jesus Christ, united under His headship.  The church enjoys diversity while maintaining its unity in Jesus Christ.
